BREAST FOOT FORWARD!

They’re on their way.

Our very own Anne Penman, successful quitter Linda Hardie and Anne’s lovely sister Nichola Gordon are en route to the States to take part in next week’s  Susan G. Komen 3-Day™ walk in San Diego to raise money for research into breast cancer.

Linda and Anne have been training in Scotland since the spring while Nichola has been doing her solo training in Ireland.  All three have been pounding the streets in all kinds of weather.

‘We have trained for months with tears and laughter along the way,’ says mum-of-two Linda from East Kilbride, who quit smoking with Anne at the start of the year.  ‘I can’t believe we are about to embark on this amazing adventure……10 months ago I wouldn’t have walked the length of myself!’

Now the threesome – calling themselves Breast Foot Forward – are feeling very excited, ready and prepared to take up the challenge  – and a little apprehensive too.

At the end of each day of the walk they will be welcomed home to the 3-Day camp, complete with a dining tent, hot showers, pink sleeping tents, evening entertainment and various other activities and helpful resources along the camp’s “Main Street”.

‘Anne has done the walk before so knows what to expect,’ says Linda, ‘but Nichola and I are novices!

‘We’ve started our own Facebook page - Breast Foot Forward - so please follow us as our journey starts.  We will be sharing our thoughts, feelings and experiences throughout the 3 days and will welcome all motivational feedback that you can give us.

‘And of course a huge thanks to all our family and friends who have sponsored us and supported us so far – it is very much appreciated.’

WELCOME AMERICA!

The Anne Penman name continues to grow and we’d like to welcome FOUR new owners Stateside.

·        Jamie Lee Free brings APLT to Frisco, Texas

·        Stacy Searcy and Mikki Mills open a new APLT center in Kansas City

·        Jo Anne Smith opens up APLT in the Panhandle

Jamie Lee quit  with us in June this year after 25 years as a smoker.

I now realize that there are people just like me who need support managing their lives and I am happy to say that I believe it’s the smartest thing I’ve ever done,’ she says.  ‘helping people to stop smoking, manage stress and with weight issues is the most rewarding thing I’ve had the privilege to do.’

Stacy Searcy and Mikki Mills both have first hand experience of the benefits of laser – and quitting – and now the two mums have opened their own laser therapy center in Kansas City.

I quit smoking the hard way 10 years ago, doing it on my own,’ says mum of two Stacy.  ‘but my father, who has smoked for over 50 years, has recently quit with the help of laser therapy and that’s how I heard about the Anne Penman method.’

And finally welcome to sixty-nine-year-old Jo Ann Smith from Fort Walton Beach who has recently opened her own Anne Penman Laser Therapy Centre.

Part of a large smoking family she was diagnosed with emphysema in 1995 and quit smoking the following year.   However Jo Ann’s sister Mona continued smoking, and in December 2012, doctors discovered a small spot on her lung which was growing.  However thanks to laser therapy she has been smoke-free for almost a year now – and looking forward to a healthy future.

‘She is the reason I discovered Anne Penman.   After seeing the success of Mona  quitting I knew I simply could not pass up the opportunity to bring Anne Penman’s methods to other smokers like Mona.’

And so the Anne Penman name continues to grow worldwide!

BRAZIL HERE WE COME!

Nathalie Augusto feels fantastic.

Twenty-three-year-old Nathalie is just about to finish a degree in marketing and a start a new venture……….introducing Anne Penman laser therapy for smoke cessation, stress and weight loss to Brazil.

‘I started smoking when I was 18,’ says Nathalie who lives in São Paulo.  ‘like all teenagers I copied my friends at parties and before I realised I was smoking 20 cigarettes a day.

‘My mother is also a smoker and although we knew it was bad for us we never had the motivation to give up,’ continues Nathalie.

Until now that is.

Nathalie’s parents were on holiday in the States recently when they read about laser therapy being used for smoking cessation.  After one session Nathalie’s mum stopped smoking.

‘I couldn’t believe it,’ continues Nathalie.  ‘I’d never heard of anything like it in Brazil but I thought if my mum can give up after 30 years smoking then it must be good.

‘That’s when we had the idea of setting up our own business and bringing laser therapy to our country.’

Now Nathalie is launching Anne Penman Laser Therapy Sao Paulo – and hopes to roll out the concept throughout Brazil.

‘I know how good I feel now that I have stopped and I want to help others,’ says Nathalie who has recently trained with Anne herself in Jacksonville, USA.

‘I think this therapy will work well here in São Paulo.  We suffer from air pollution and many other issues but people are becoming increasingly aware that good health is the basis of all things.  In Brazil there are 32 million smokers and our aim is to bring the vision of Anne Penman to this part of the world and help as many people as possible make long-term lifestyle changes.'

 Welcome BRAZIL!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MRS P!

Celebrations are in full swing this week for Anne Penman's 60th birthday (I know it's hard to believe!).

Parties and lunches with family and friends are filling the diary but it will soon be back to training for Anne as she's signed up for a very special and powerful event – it’s called the Susan G. Komen 3-Day™ - and takes place in the States each year.  It’s in November and it is a 60-mile journey over 3 days to raise money for research into breast cancer.

'A 60 mile walk for my 60th – I feel it is appropriate,' says Anne.

Instead of birthday presents Anne asked all her friends and family to donate to this amazing charity which raises millions of pounds each year to help in the fight against breast cancer.

'Thank you to everyone for their birthday wishes, their messages of love and laughter and for all the donations.  I am overwhelmed,' says Anne.

And it's not too late.

Anne's personal fundraising page will be live up until the walk in November.  If you would like to make a donation (tax-deductable!) then please follow this link to Anne's page ......... http://www.the3day.org/site/PageServer?pagename=donat_

WE DID IT!

Last weekend saw the Anne Penman team  pounding the streets of Edinburgh – all in the name of charity.

Anne, Linda Jones and Linda Hardie COMPLETED the Edinburgh Moonwalk…….and Anne took a step nearer her goal to walk the 60 mile trek she has signed up for in the States in November to celebrate her 60th birthday.

Sharing this incredible adventure with her is Linda Hardie who was one of Anne’s clients in January of this year and who has now become a good friend.

‘My birthday is on January 18th and I felt the best present I could give myself this year was to be a non-smoker,’ says mum-of-two Linda.

After a visit to Anne Penman’s Glasgow office Linda quit.

‘I can’t begin to describe how amazing I am feeling. The minute I met Anne we hit it off and I knew I could do it.  But not only have I stopped smoking, I have gained an amazing friend who would make you believe you can do anything.’

Training is going well and the Edinburgh Moonwalk was a good stepping stone in the training diary.  Anne and Linda were joined for the Capital’s annual midnight walk by another ex-smoker, Linda Jones, who managed to fit in her training as well as opening the newest  Anne Penman Laser Therapy clinic in Kilmarnock!

‘We have all had such fun in the lead up to the Moonwalk, putting in the miles and we are all so proud of our achievements.  Not only are you helping other people but it makes you feel on top of the world too,’ says Anne.

Next stop San Diego in November!

BUSY AS EVER

It’s been a whirlwind few months.

TWO trips to the States, new owners in the UK – and a new arrival to the Penman clan have kept us busy!

The Anne Penman family is growing all the time, not just in the UK but globally.  With clinics recently opened in Mexico City, Brazil and Chile and enquiries from Dubai, Dominican Republic, Egypt and Jakarta, Indonesia on my desk, I think we are going to continue to be busy for the remainder of  2013!

It's all good and spreading the word worldwide has always been my aim.
At home too the business continues to expand.

We are joined by ex-smoker Linda Jones who has just opened the newest  Anne Penman Laser Therapy clinic in Kilmarnock!

‘I had smoked since I was 16,’ says Linda, who is combining her existing  massage and beauty therapy business with the laser therapy.  ‘But 3 years ago, in January 2010, I decided it was time to quit.  I knew it wasn’t good for me and being a beauty therapist I also knew how ageing it was!’

By making that decision Linda now has a new business to show for it.

And in England we would also like to welcome Anne Penman Laser Therapy North West into the fold.  It is owned and operated by Joanne Hurst, a senior nurse with over 12 years of front line NHS experience.  Joanne’s primary interest is addiction, helping people with drugs and alcohol issues.

We are delighted to have Joanne as part of the team and already she is spreading the word about the unique benefits of laser therapy, utilising her skills and experience, in the North West of England.

In Brazil Antoni Augusto and his daughter Nathalie are opening our new location this summer and have plans to franchise the Anne Penman brand throughout Brazil while in Chile we have husband and wife duo heading up the new Anne Penman location.  Dr Felipe Tello Gracia MD and his wife Matilde Fernande Galan are opening in Santiago Chile this summer as well.

And in MEXICO CITY welcome to Cesar Suarez Fernandez.   Cesar is CEO of Mexico City’s top hospital – and now our name is above the door.

GETTING FIT FOR MY BIRTHDAY!

It’s my big six-0 this year and despite being in a state of shock I have vowed to do something positive about it!

I have signed up for a very special and powerful event – it’s called the Susan G. Komen 3-Day™ - and takes place in the States each year.

It’s in November and it is a 60-mile journey over 3 days to raise money for research into breast cancer.

A 60 mile walk for my 60th – I feel it is appropriate.

And instead of birthday presents I would like donations to this amazing charity which raises millions of pounds each year to help in the fight against breast cancer.

This is the second time I have taken part.  In 2005 I walked the 60 miles and raised a lot of money for cancer research.

This time I intend to raise EVEN more!

Breast cancer is part of my family history.  Like so many people I have been affected by breast cancer hitting those closest.  My dear mum Helen and four of my aunts are all breast cancer survivors.  They are the lucky ones.

Every 74 seconds, somewhere in the world, someone dies from breast cancer.

Hopefully that figure alone will make you reach into your pockets.  I’m hoping to raise £2,500 in donations.  I need your help to reach my goal.

If you would like to make a donation (tax-deductable!) then please follow this link to my personal fundraising page .........

I hope you will share this incredible adventure with me – I am already in training and will be updating you all on Facebook and Twitter and thank you in advance for your generosity by supporting my fundraising efforts!

The end of the walk in 2005 - looking forward to reaching that finishing line again in November 2013!
